I sure hope the citizens of Mississippi, Louisana, and Texas don’t sleep thru their respective governors decisions to turn down portions of the stimilus money due to them.
It is just rediculous these decisions a small group of governors hacve made. The money they are turning down is money to extend unemployment benefits. They have gave their lame excuses for not excepting the money which has mainly been when the money runs out we’ll have to pick up the tab for these extended benefits. That kind of thinking is SO wrong on so many levels I don’t even know where to start.
I guess first things first the country is in a financial 9/11 people are losing their homes and jobs at an alarming rate. The unemployment rate is higher than its been in 25 yrs. upwards of 8% in most areas(which is lower than actual because it only counts for people filing unemployment).
That money they are rejecting is just about the only portion of the stimulus package that will directly help the lower to middle class families so the very people that the stimulus package is suppose to help are being cut out of it in those states.
If the unemployment rate stays where its currently at, it means people will need to continue to collect PERIOD!!.. Where do these governors think people will get money to survive if the unemployment rate stay the same or goes up ?? Do they understand that when the unemployment rate goes up so does crime ?? These governors are irresponsible.
Are these governors making these decision based on political posturing ?? All 3 have Presidential aspirations, all 3 want to become the popular republican. All 3 know its not the decisions you make its the publicity you can garner because on every decision you make some will be for and some will be against. All 3 have been critical of Obamas stimulus package before it even hit their desks.
These governors say they must look out for their respective states future. POPPYCOCK if they were they would realize that if the unemployment rate stay up then they might have to extend unemp. benefits anyway so atleast the Federal Gov. sees this and has made provisions to help with that. If future is at issue don’t they see if they can help create jobs the extended benefits won’t be claimed no matter how long there extended but if they don’t the benefits will be needed, that’s reality!! Don’t they understand that if their citizens are doing well the state will do well to. I really thought that very few citizens didn’t undestand that if the poeple are doing well then the goverment is doing well, and if the goverment is doing well then the people are doing well, I thought every single politician understood this. Now I think every politician knows this except 3. These Governors should be tar’ed and feathered they are not looking out for their staes future they have no idea what their citizens are going to need and instead of excepting a cushion for their workers they have chosen to take the risk that in 26 weeks jobs will be avaliable with whats going on that a huge risk so if you live in one of those states I’d be thinking of a move because after 26 weeks if jobs haven’t been created in your region youyr screwed and don’t expect any help from your state. And if your planning on moving to one of those states tur the car around those state goverments could give a rats ass about your survival.
In a nutshell:
This money that’s ultimately going come out of our pockets anyway is being withheld by the govenors of Louisans, Mississippi, and Texas, this money is a very small portion of the stimulus bill and it’s the only portion that will directlty help citizens put food on the table.
They do not understand if people find jobs extended unemployment benefits won’t be needed so if they do their jobs it won’t be an issue but if jobs aren’t out there people need to eat and wiil need the benefits. This isn’t for curb repair this money is for Americans to live day to day until they can provide for there families. The last point I want to make sure everyone hears is when unemployment goes up SO DOES CRIME remember that if you think the governors are doing the right thing. Just watch those 3 states.
That was the last point now a little trivia:
What political party are all 3 of those governors from ??
I really hope my points been made and more importantly understood. I really hope the people of these states don’t let them get away with it.
Please forgive the grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
